All the Peugeot Boxer cigarette lighter type sockets to plug in accessories etc are keyed ie. only operate with the engine running. Although this minimises the risk of leaving something on to drain the battery it can be inconvenient also when you need to charge up your phone or leave your windscreen camera running when away from the van.
I bought a dash mounted twin 12v socket and mounted it in a position where it would not spoil the layout of the dash, where it is convenient to use at the front of the van and where the screw holes would not be noticeable if it were removed in the future.
The main engine battery is located under the floor under a cover beneath the passenger’s feet a short run to the new socket.
IMPORTANT: use a suitable heavy duty cable and ALWAYS PUT A FUSE IN THE CIRCUIT.
